The Red Bench Speaker Series presents, Avalanches: The State of the Art on Thursday, October 19th at 6:30 PM at the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum.
Join us for a conversation about the state-of-the-art in avalanche forecasting for both backcountry and resort skiing. Learn what every skier and snowboarder needs to know to stay safe in avalanche terrain.
Sitting on the Red Bench will be panelists, Jeff Fongemie the director and lead snow ranger at the Mt. Washington Avalanche Center in NH, Cindy Berlack from BRASS Avalanche, an avalanche education group founded after US Ski Team member Ronnie Berlack (Cindy’s son) was killed in an avalanche in 2015, and Randy Trover the former snow safety director at Snowbird. This discussion will be moderated by David Goodman.
Doors to the Museum will open at 6:00 PM and guests are invited to enjoy the exhibits and socialize. The discussion begins at 6:30 PM. Event admission is $10 and helps support the museum's mission to "Collect, Preserve, and Celebrate Vermont's rich skiing and snowboarding history.”
