Red Bench Speaker's Series

Join us once a month for our Red Bench Speaker's Series. Each month will feature a new subject and speaker or panel of speakers.

For decades the Red Bench drew skiers together around the fireplace in the Octagon at the top of Mount Mansfield. The tradition continues today with the Red Bench Speaker's Series that focuses on topics currently relevant to skiing and snowboarding.

Doors to the museum open at 6pm. Lively discussions begin at 6:30pm. Beverages available. Entrance donation $10. Thank you to our Red Bench Sponsors: Sisler Builders, VT Ski+Ride, von Trapp Brewing, and FireTower Marketing & Media.

The Next Frontier of Vermont’s Backcountry Skiing
Thursday, January 9th, 2019

Where is the cutting edge of backcountry skiing now? Don't just follow tracks -- learn the secrets of where to go, hear about the latest community-supported skiing around Vermont and learn about gear innovations. Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum's monthly Red Bench Series is hosting a discussion with leaders of the Northeast's backcountry skiing and riding community moderated by backcountry skiing guidebook author, David Goodman.

Join us for a conversation with backcountry advocates. Panelists include Zac Freeman, a moving force in Vermont's burgeoning glade zones movement and spokesperson for Rochester/Randolph Area Sport Trail Alliance, Louise Lintilhac, scribe, skier and managing editor of Backcountry magazine, Scott Seward, split boarder and senior Design Engineer at Burton Snowboards and Tyler Ray, "Granite Chief" and founder of Granite Backcountry Alliance, New Hampshire's leading backcountry skiing organization. Moderator, David Goodman is the author of Best Backcountry Skiing in the Northeast.
